My nephew Connor – and his parents – visited me in my recently-acquired studio space and saw a bigger-than-life anglerfish I’d painted hanging on the wall. He begged and pleaded for his tia Leslie to make a fish just for him. He wanted it red because that was his favorite color... no, yellow! Maybe green...
And a few months later, I handed over my first commission -- Connor's fish – at his birthday party, and he couldn’t put it down. He proudly showed it to everyone. It started his very-early sideline as an art collector – ask his parents – and it was then I knew I wanted to create works that spoke to kids.
Many of my paintings are like snapshots taken from longer stories, and I’m interested to see where I can take that. While I’m continuing to create different kinds of works, I’m interested in pairing up with a writer for a children’s book project.
I’m open to picture books with different kinds of stories and subject matter. That said, I’m most interested in stories featuring animal characters with human characteristics.
If you like the look of my work and are interested in collaborating on a children’s book or hiring me for illustration work, feel free to reach out to me via the Contact form above.
Yours in wonder,
